Punishment for defamation Whoever defames another shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both. [Chapter 21: defamation]

Example: A person who defames another may be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
