Punishment for wrongful restraint Whoever wrongfully restrains any person shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to one month, or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both. [Chapter 16: wrongful restraint and wrongful confinement]

Example: A person who wrongfully restrains any person may be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to one month, or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both. In a real FIR or trial, investigators must show that the facts match the ingredients of the offence (intent, act, and other elements as applicable) under Section 341.
