Exhibition of false light, mark or buoy Whoever exhibits any false light, mark or buoy, intending or knowing it to be likely that such exhibition will mislead any navigator, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, or with fine, or with both. Example: A person who exhibits any false light, mark or buoy, intending or knowing it to be likely that such exhibition will mislead any navigator, may be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, or with fine, or with both. In a real FIR or trial, investigators must show that the facts match the ingredients of the offence (intent, act, and other elements as applicable) under Section 281. Chapter context: offences affecting the public health, safety, convenience, decency and morals.
